I never had mushroom coffee blend before, so I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it for the first time. This was perfect paired with a good book!
The mushroom coffee was pleasantly balanced and enjoyable. When dringking it black it has a earthy flavor that is different than your traditional coffee but is still smooth. The earthiness isn't overpowerful. This coffee taste unique when drinking it black, but you can also add creamer and sugar without loosing the natural flavor.
This mushroom coffee was SOLID! Not too strong as far as a kick in the head with caffeine like with regular coffee, but not too weak to the point where it feels like a placebo. I would love just a bit more flavor of some kind, possibly chocolate or a mocha, but a solid 8.5/10 for me!
I normally drink my coffee with a lot of cream and sugar, but this coffee is really smooth black. Not anywhere near as “earthy” as I thought it was going be, more nutty than anything with a hint of chocolate.
I was reading Twisted Magic when I made my first cup and honestly I forgot I was even drinking mushroom coffee. I expected something weird tasting but it just tasted like good coffee? Like the kind you make when you know you’re about to stay up way too late finishing a chapter you swear will be your last (it never is).
It’s really smooth and kinda cozy. The chocolate note is subtle but it’s there, and the little bit of earthiness is giving... a warm forest? Which sounds strange but it actually fits the vibe perfectly.
I also didn’t get that jittery anxious feeling I sometimes get from regular coffee when I’m deep in a book that usually takes me out. The energy felt calmer and more steady, which made it really easy caterpillar-up in my nook and read for hours without feeling wired or crashing halfway through the good parts.
I’ll definitely be buying another bag when this one is gone because it somehow made my reading sesh feel even more like a ritual, and the packaging is just the chef's kiss.
